Aloha mai kākou,
Does your organization use native plant materials for conservation, reforestation, urban landscaping, education, or cultural use in Hawai'i? If so, you are part of the local native plant material supply chain and are invited to participate in the following survey developed by members of Laukahi: The Hawai'i Plant Conservation Network.
As a practitioner, you probably already know that supply chain shortfalls exist for projects ranging from improving the functionality and sustainability of urban vegetation to landscape-scale reforestation. The recent fires on Maui and Hawai'i, for example, are highlighting the limits in availability and production of seeds, cuttings, and plants for post-fire recovery.
The purpose of this survey is to collect information about how native plant materials (NPM) are collected, produced, and used in Hawai'i. The information will be used to describe the size and scope native plant supply chain, identify organizations that are involved, and investigate some of the limiting factors. The results will be made available to all participants and summarized in a public report.
The Native Plant Material Survey will take approximately 20-30 minutes to complete. By taking the survey you are agreeing to allow your responses to be used in future written and oral communications of the results. Personal information (name and contact) is being collected solely for the sake of tracking survey completions. No information about participant identity will be published or shared.
Thank you for taking the time to contribute to this effort and please share the survey with anyone you know involved with native plants.
